I've been involved with dogs all my life, my first love being the 'Grey Ghost' the Weimaraner.  Having owned and shown weimies for many years, my attention was drawn to the Dogue de Bordeaux. The beauty of the Bordeaux is not just in their looks, but deep in their heart! They are a gentle, calm breed with the heart and strength of a lion! I love the breed with a passion. My girls live with us in the house, and are first and fore most my family companions who are very much loved and adored!

*** Winning top honors in the show ring is a bonus ***

I have exhibited the breed in the show ring since they were accepted on to the Import Register in April 2001. My girls are all health checked, BVA hip scored and DNA profiled, the health and well being of all my girls being my priority!

A Dogue de Bordeaux should be an athletic breed, not just a massive head with bone and certainly not a cripple! I echo some comments made by judges over the last year. The basic construction of all dog breeds are basically the same, and to breed sound healthy representatives of this beautiful breed, breeders should take time to understand and learn how a dog is constructed. To move correctly with drive a dog needs to have correct angulations both front and rear, working in harmony together! A sound front, not bowed or queen anned, a sound strong rear, not weak and cow hocked! Dogue de Bordeaux should be able to move round a ring with out rasping for breath or near collapse!!! The future of our breed is in our hands. We who breed should do our utmost to strive to produce sound healthy puppies both physically and mentally!

Over the years I have had great success with the girls and made some wonderful friends within the breed.  Any one wanting to know more about  the Dogue de Bordeaux or seeking help or advice, are very welcome to contact me.

At its meeting on the 10th of October 2006 the General Committee of the Kennel Club agreed that the Dogue de Bordeaux would be transferred from the Imported Breed Register to the Breed Register with effect from the 1st of January 2008.
This is wonderful news for our breed! Being transferred to the Breed Register means that the Dogue de Bordeaux will be able to compete for Best in Group and Best in Show at both Open and Championship level. Societies and clubs should be encouraged to schedule breed classes at their shows. At shows that do not have breed classes scheduled, the Dogue de Bordeaux will be able to compete in Rare Breed and Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes. Being transferred to the Breed Register does not mean that we will be given Challenge Certificate (CC) status.
Hopefully with well attended shows in the future it won’t be too long before the Kennel Club grant the Dogue de Bordeaux its first set of CC’s and the breed given time sees its first English Champion titled Dogue de Bordeaux!
